Profiles and User Accounts

This article helps explain the difference between an athlete profile and a user account

Athlete Profiles

An athlete profile is the athlete's record within the system and contains information about the athlete, such as their name, date of birth, sport, attributes, results, plans, sessions, and other performance-related data. A profile can exist in Summit even if the athlete has never logged in.

Types of Profiles:

  • Public - capturing only athlete results

  • NSO Identified - built for future use so a sport can capture athletes identified but not yet supported

  • NSO Supported - built for future use so a sport can capture athletes supported at a NSO level, not HPSNZ TAPs athlete

  • HPSNZ supported - TAPS athletes

Athlete User Account

An athlete user account, on the other hand, provides login access to Summit. It includes the athlete's email address, authentication details, and permissions that allow them to securely access and interact with their information. An athlete profile must exist before a user account can be created, and the user account must be linked to the athlete profile before the athlete can view their data, plans, sessions, results, and other personalised information within the system.

Other User Accounts

Coach Accounts

Athletes and coaches are connected within Summit to support effective planning, communication, and performance management. Once a coach user account has been linked to an athlete profile by an Summit Administrator, the coach can access the information and features available through their assigned permissions, such as training plans, sessions, forms, calendars, and athlete data.

An athlete can be connected to one or more coaches, and coaches can be connected to multiple athletes within their sport. These connections help ensure that coaches have appropriate visibility of the athletes they support, while maintaining secure, role-based access to athlete information

Support Staff user Account

There are two types of access across Support Staff.

Support Team 1 and Support Team 2 user accounts are designed to provide different levels of access to athlete information within Summit.

A Support Team 1 account is intended for practitioners who require broader access to athlete information and are actively involved in an athlete's performance programme.

A Support Team 2 account is intended for users who require more limited access, viewing only the information relevant to their role and permissions.

The exact information available to each user depends on the permissions assigned by a Summit Administrator. This role-based approach helps ensure that users have access to the information they need while protecting athlete privacy and maintaining appropriate controls over sensitive data.

NSO Leadership (ie High Performance Director) / PTL

Where relevant NSO high performance staff and relevant HPSNZ staff associated with a sport may be provided with a user account to view information relating to their sport - eg results dashboards
