Recording RPE and Completing a Session

For athletes: mark a training session complete and record your RPE so your training load values stay accurate.

After training, you can mark your session complete and record your RPE so the session counts towards your training load. Doing this consistently keeps your training load chart meaningful.

Find Today's Session

  1. Navigate to the Session Module

  2. Locate today's session in the calendar.

  3. Click the session to open the view.

To Mark the Session Complete

  1. Scroll down to RPE

  2. Drag the RPE slider of how hard the session felt, on a 0 to 10 scale where 10 is the hardest effort you could give.

  3. Click save

Add Other Details to Session

  1. Enter any actual values the session asks for, so the record shows what you actually did rather than what was planned.

  2. This might include

    1. Planned or Completed Duration

    2. Distance

    3. Calories

    4. TSS

    5. Heart rate - minimum, average, max

    6. Cadence - minimum, average, max

    7. Speed - minimum, average, max

    8. Power - minimum, average, max

  3. Select SAVE to save the session.

Note: Some RPE or wellness questions may also arrive as forms to complete. See the companion article Completing Wellness and RPE Check-ins.

Importance of Completing Sessions

  1. Completed sessions feed your training load values: CTL, ATL and Form.

  2. Complete every session soon after you train, including easy ones. Sessions left incomplete do not count towards these values, so missed completions understate your true training load.

Note: For what CTL, ATL and Form mean and how to read the chart, see the companion article Understanding Training Load: CTL, ATL and Form.
