How Sessions Are Auto-Created

For coaches and athletes: where auto-created sessions come from, where they appear, and how to review and edit them.

SUMMIT can create some sessions automatically, instead of every session being entered by hand. This article explains where those sessions come from, where they appear, and how to review and edit them.

What Auto-Creation Is

SUMMIT builds sessions from four sources:

  1. A connected device or platform. When an activity syncs in, for example a Garmin activity, SUMMIT turns it into a session automatically.

  2. The periodisation plan. Sessions you plan in an athlete's periodisation populate the athlete calendar as sessions.

  3. If a session is created in Lumin by a strength and conditioner, this will push the session high level detail across into SUMMIT into the session plan.

  4. When a session is created or pushed via a wearable into Training Peaks, this will sync to SUMMIT every 30 mins (on the hour, and half past) and create or update sessions in SUMMIT.

Note: Exact behaviour depends on the integration and on how the plan is set up. What syncs, and which fields are filled in, varies between platforms and between plans

Where They Appear

  1. Auto-created sessions appear in the Session Module alongside sessions you entered by hand.

  2. Work with them in the same place, and the same way, as any manual session.

Tell Them Apart

  1. Look on the session to identify entries created by Garmin, Training Peaks or Lumin rather than manually.

  2. Note: A device-synced session and a plan-generated session may look different from each other. Open a session and view full detail if you are unsure of its source.

Review and Edit

  1. Open the auto-created session from the Session Module.

  2. Check the detail. Auto-created values are a starting point, so confirm or adjust them.

  3. Edit any field you need to correct, then save.

  4. To remove a session, delete it as you would any other session.

Note: Auto-created sessions are not locked. You can edit or delete them like manual entries, so review them before relying on the data.
